Period
March 31, 2026 to August 31, 2026

Incidents/events
In the five months since Gen. Ye Win Oo assumed command of the Myanmar Armed Forces (MAF), at least 1,583 airstrikes have been conducted nationwide. Magway Region was targeted most heavily, accounting for over 20 percent of all strikes (at least 322 incidents).

Locations
Airstrikes were recorded across 13 states and regions, excluding Yangon Region and the Union Territory of Naypyitaw.

Types
Airstrikes

Risk Level
Airstrikes are heavily concentrated in Chin State, Sagaing Region, Rakhine State, and Magway Region. Magway serves as a key military operational route to the rest of the connecting territories. Civilians in resistance-controlled territories across these four regions face the highest risk of impacts.

Implications
In the post-election period, the Min Aung Hlaing administration is employing diverse tactics, including military pressure, to secure bilateral ceasefires with individual Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs). Data indicate that airstrikes are unlikely to decrease. As attacks continue to strike schools, religious buildings, hospitals, and IDP camps, civilian casualties, displacement, and the humanitarian crisis could inevitably deepen.
