There are 12 types of mineral resources produced in northern Shan State, including lead, silver, coal, and gold, with 31 mining sites in total. Of these, 11 are controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army(MNDAA) and the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) each control eight sites. The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) controls three, while the United Wa State Army (UWSA) controls one.
