Increased Arson Cases in Rakhine State and Mandalay Region
(February 2021 to October 2024)
Over three years following the coup, armed conflicts burned and destroyed over 105,799 houses and buildings nationwide. In the first ten months of 2024, over 23,497 structures were burned, with Rakhine State seeing the highest incidents at 41 Percent ( over 9,571 structures). The Sagaing Region faced the second-highest destruction, with at least 4,792 structures destroyed this year, while the Mandalay Region recorded the third with at least 3,622 destroyed.
