1. The Institute for Strategy and Policy-Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar) welcomes the release of Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri of Zion Church, who was detained in China in October 2025. ISP-Myanmar expresses solidarity with the Jin family and their congregation during this challenging time and notes that several members of the Zion Church remain unjustly detained.
2. ISP-Myanmar notes the important role that sustained international diplomacy played in Pastor Jin’s release and earnestly hopes for similar efforts to support the immediate release of Min Zin, an American citizen and the Executive Director of ISP-Myanmar, who has been wrongfully detained in China since June 3, 2026. We call for Min Zin’s immediate and unconditional release from detention.
3. ISP-Myanmar is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental think tank dedicated to public-interest, evidence-based research on Myanmar’s political, social, and economic developments. Independent research and academic institutions must be allowed to operate freely without threat or coercion.
