TNLA Extending Its Governance Arm
The Ta’ang Land Council (TLC) was formed to govern areas under the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). The nine-member council includes three representatives each from the military, political, and civil sectors of the Ta’ang ethnicity. Ta’ang people make up only 19.9 percent of the population across ten TNLA-controlled townships. In five townships, there are overlapping territories between the governances of TNLA and KIO.
