Over 17 Towns Ceded by MAF in Myanmar-China Border Districts
(February 2021 – April 2024)

After Operation 1027, Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) and resistance forces took control of more than 53 towns across the country. About 32 percent (17 towns) are located in Myanmar-China Border Districts. Out of the nine districts that border China, the Myanmar Armed Forces (MAF) lost control of towns in six districts. The MAF lost most towns in the Muse District of Shan State, giving up control of four towns.
