Over Eight Towns Ceded by MAF in Myanmar-Bangladesh Border Districts
(February 2021 – April 2024)
Following Operation 1027, Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) and resistance forces seized more than 53 towns throughout the nation. Four towns, making up about eight percent of the district, are situated in the Myanmar-Bangladesh border districts. The Myanmar Armed Forces (MAF) lost control of towns in both districts bordering Bangladesh: three towns in the Matupi District and one town in the Maungdaw District.
