Political Prisoners Made Up 8.6 Percent of 16 Amnesties
(February 2021 to the first week of January 2025)
Throughout nearly four years of the coup, the State Administration Council (SAC) granted 16 amnesties, releasing 101,729 detainees. Among those released, 8,762 were political prisoners, making up 8.6 percent of the total. Presently, over 21,499 individuals are still detained for protesting against the coup, and more than 9,958 have received prison sentences that range from one year to the death penalty.
