EAOs Exert Territorial Control Over 53% of China’s Project Value in Myanmar

ISP-Myanmar’s database reveals 66 projects either planned or underway by China in Myanmar. Only the data for 30 projects out of these are publicly available. The available data for China’s projects in Myanmar is valued at USD 52 billion. As of April 25, 2024, seven projects fall within territories fully controlled by Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), while 13 are within areas under partial EAO control. These 20 projects represent over USD 28 billion in investment, indicating that EAOs have exerted influence over more than 53 percent of China’s investment value in Myanmar.
