When a nation collectively chooses the path of securitization and militarization, it inevitably incurs an opportunity cost in the development and productivity of the nation impeding for generations to come.

The State Administration Council (SAC) relinquished control of the Myawaddy town in Karen State on April 11, 2024, and forgo the control of approximately 60 percent of Myanmar’s cross-border trade.

Of all armed ethnic groups, the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army (KNU/KNLA) has clashed with junta forces most often since the coup.  With the increasing number of clashes in the southeast of Myanmar, the clashes have become intensified, and the conflict has become more widespread in eastern Bago Region, Karen and Mon States and Tanintharyi Region.
