As of May 10, 2024

Within three years after the coup, the total border trade value at five China-Myanmar border trade stations reached around USD 9.3 billion. Notably, the trade value at three key border stations now controlled by the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)—Muse, Chinshwehaw, and Lwegel—amounts to over USD 8.7 billion, constituting nearly 95 percent of the China-Myanmar cross-border trade value. On the other hand, the Kanpiketi and Keng Tung border trade stations, controlled by the SAC, amount to just over USD 500 million, representing slightly above 5 percent of the China-Myanmar cross-border trade. Furthermore, the SAC exerts complete control over only two of the six trade routes connecting these five border trade stations.
